Stephen Baldwin Successfully Launches Extreme Sports Ministry in Austin
An estimated 10,000 guests experienced “A Radical Tour Like No Other.”
Phoenix, AZ, July 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Actor Stephen Baldwin - The Usual Suspects, Celebrity Apprentice – had something to rejoice about on Saturday, June 28th. Baldwin debuted his highly anticipated AsSALT Tour, a radical extreme sports tour, at Austin’s PromiseLand Campus.
An estimated 10,000 guests attended the high-energy event. A division of Baldwin’s Global Breakthrough Ministry, the AsSALT Tour is a free, extreme sports tour that uses skateboarding, freestyle BMX and motocross to deliver a powerful message to today’s youth about living with a purpose and making the right choices.
The mega-event featured a full-day of various fun activities for the entire family. Game and food vendors, a rock-climbing wall, a bouncing castle for children, a hip-hop performance and an all-day DJ were a rave. A skate street demo course from nationally known Spohn Ranch skate ramp company and freestyle motocross also filled the day with thrills and awesome entertainment for everyone.
Baldwin assembled an impressive array of professional action sports athletes to deliver jaw-dropping performances. Legendary vert skaters Christian Hosoi, Chad Tim Tim, Andre Genovesi and Brian Sumner showed the crowd how to master a skateboard, while FMX team Riders IV Christ, led by last year’s X Games gold medalist Kyle Loza, took charge of the dirt. Headlining the event was rock band House of Heroes.
The biggest surprise of the day came from the amateur skate competition. Over 50 contestants of all ages competed for cash and prizes on best skills and tricks. “It is just amazing to see the dedication of these kids to express themselves in a way that they enjoy and get very excited about,” stated Daniel Southern, President.
Temperatures that day nearly reached 100 degrees. The ministry deemed the debut a success because of the cool breezes of Texas, the spirit of the crowd and the support of sponsors. According to Baldwin, the Austin launch was just the beginning of what he hopes will become a movement to reach today’s youth with a relevant message of the Truth about faith and making a difference.
Baldwin and the AsSALT Tour has future events planned for Syracuse NY, Tacoma Washington, Tampa Florida, Atlanta Georgia and many other locations around the country.
