The “Sleep-In for the Homeless,” to be held overnight at the City County Building in downtown Pittsburgh on Friday, October 17, 2008 (a Friday evening), will benefit hundreds of homeless children, adults and seniors living in Allegheny County.

Pittsburgh, PA, July 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Every night in Allegheny County more then 2,000 people are facing homelessness. Homelessness is non-discriminatory - it affects infants, adolescents, parents, adults and seniors of all genders and races regardless of lifestyle. The one common factor is debilitating poverty.

There is a solution.

Participate in Community Human Services "Sleep-In for the Homeless" where local musicians, politicians, students, and community advocates will join hands to support children, family and seniors facing this crisis. The Sleep-In is designed to be a homeless-awareness event educating participants about the challenges that neighbors, friends and low-income people are facing.

During the night, those who attend will learn about the many faces of homelessness. Advocates, politicians, homeless individuals, and musicians will suggest ways that you can help. This event will raise critical funds to assist hundreds of homeless seniors, paren

Funds raised from this event will benefit the hundreds of homeless served in Community Human Services emergency shelter, housing programs, health clinics, rental assistance program and case management support services.

Similar to a charity walk or run, those who participate will be asked to raise funds from families and friends for their overnight participation in this event. A minimum of $25 will be raised by each participant. Prizes will be awarded to those who raise the most funds.
