Crash & Sue's Puts the Petal to the Metal for Subaru WRX STi's New Web & Broadcast Spots
Minneapolis, MN, July 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Crash & Sue's editor Carrie Shanahan captured the turbocharged Subaru Impreza WRX STi’s many “Adrenaline” moments in a package of broadcast and web spots from Carmichael Lynch/Minneapolis. The dynamic commercials build upon the vehicle’s rally car heritage, targeting consumers who want to be part of the WRX STi’s tradition of speed and performance.
Shanahan crafted a montage of authentic rally car stunt footage, quick-cutting shots of the vehicles churning up clouds of dust, hopping bumps, overcoming barriers, jumping ramps, recovering from rollovers, mastering snowy courses and plunging through water to the accompaniment of a hard-driving rock track.
The montage ends with the message: “Buckle up. The all new WRX STi is here.” Shanahan followed the declaration with shots of the consumer vehicle taking on a curvy, concrete-walled urban underpass, demonstrating that every time drivers get behind the wheel of a Subaru’s STi, they feel like they’re tearing up the track.
"It was so exciting to be in on the first wave of the new Carmichael Lynch Subaru campaign,” says Shanahan. “These spots have great energy driven by the use of actual STi rally footage. The Carmichael team of Brock, Conn and Jon couldn't have been lovelier to work with. We had a blast exploring many different directions, both musically and editorially. Their sensibilities are fresh and inventive and that, coupled with the fact that I love a good smash-up spot, made it something of a dream project. I found myself listening more closely to the sounds of my own car's revs on my way home at night."
CRASH+SUES provided a full-service approach to posting the campaign: Sue Lakso color corrected the new running footage shot by Uncle director Dana Christiaansen’s, along with supplied rally footage to create a seamless look; Ross Nelson mixed the high-octane music track; Smoke artist Derek Johnson performed the finish with Donna Drewick producing.
