Seatability Leads Bungee Chair Sensation, Despite Early Setbacks
Provo, UT, July 17, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Despite initial obstacles and potentially dire setbacks, Seatability, the award-winning student company specializing in uniquely-designed office chairs, is successfully piloting the current bungee chair revolution sweeping the North American design industry.
Mesmerized by the idea of an office chair made out of bungee cords, two college sophomores at Brigham Young University founded Seatability and pioneered the concept of an affordable bungee chair in the United States. Numerous retail outlets and furniture companies began manufacturing similar bungee chairs after Seatability’s creation in 2005, and bungee chairs can now be found in hundreds of furniture stores and on countless websites. In the last year alone, the popularity of bungee chairs in the furniture market has increased substantially, and many industry experts are quick to recognize Seatability’s unique contribution to the current bungee phenomenon.
But the race to success has its hurdles, and Seatability was not immune from the trouble that often dulls the entrepreneurial spirit. In light of its contributions to the industry today, Seatability enthusiasts are often unaware of the company’s rocky beginnings.
“Just finding the money to invest in our idea was a huge challenge,” said Derek Perkins, CEO and co-founder of Seatability. “We finally borrowed enough to start the company, but we quickly discovered that money wasn’t our only problem.”
Derek and his business partner, Jason Barber, encountered constant problems as early orders fell though, chair parts malfunctioned and an undersized staff struggled to keep Seatability afloat. These business dilemmas, combined with homework and final exams, fueled the stress of Seatability’s beginning days.
“In contrast to our current achievement and success, the genesis of Seatability was quite rocky,” said Jason Barber, Director of Marketing and Special Projects at Seatability. “I remember once at a trade show when someone sat in one of our bungee chairs and it collapsed under him. I thought we were doomed forever. But we worked hard to weed out all our imperfections, and Seatability now leads the bungee chair sensation blanketing the country. Best of all, our chairs don’t collapse anymore.”
After all the difficulties, this next year will be especially rewarding for Seatability. Not only does the company begin selling its newest and most anticipated bungee chair line, the Solace, but founders Derek and Jason will finally graduate.
About Seatability: Seatability doesn’t believe office chairs should be boring and uncomfortable. Since 2005, Seatability has committed itself to providing the most progressive and technologically advanced bungee chairs in the world. Its Elasticity System combines the comfort of a hammock with the solid ergonomic support of a quality office chair. With its sophisticated design and visionary style, Seatability prides itself in breaking free from the ordinary.
