O’Guin Decorative Arts Completes Installation of Mural
O’Guin Decorative Arts completes installation of mural at Naples Community Hospital’s pediatric center.
Naples, FL, July 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- O’Guin Decorative Arts is pleased to announce that it recently completed the installation of unique wall coverings at Naples Community Hospital’s new pediatric center, located in the tower at NCH North Naples Hospital, 11190 Health Park Boulevard, Naples.
The walls are now covered with beautiful images of sea life, which are designed to help children focus on something other than their illness or ongoing treatment.
“It was really a happy project to be involved with,” said Michael O’Guin, the company’s senior partner. “It was fun to see the reaction of the doctors, nurses, and the patients. Staff members from all over the hospital have come to see the new aquarium wall covering. It is often called the ‘aquarium floor’ by the staff.”
It took O’Guin and two employees more than two weeks to complete the installation, and it was the largest mural he has ever hung.
“The corridor walls are adorned with spectacular, clinically safe fish imagery embedded with an interactive discovery game,” said Lori Wegman, principal of Wegman Design Group, which created the concept. “We incorporated a ‘find the hidden picture’ game by hiding 30 starfish in the wall design. Children inevitably become more interested in locating the starfish than focusing on their illness.”
The facility, dubbed the “SeaCAREium,” also utilizes special lights and sounds to create a soothing atmosphere for the patients.
In addition to this project, O’Guin’s company has installed handmade wall coverings in private residences, as well as the offices of Orion Bank and Bigham Jewelers in Naples, both in connection with Wegman Design Group. Another installation can be seen in the Raymond James building in Magnolia Square in Naples.
O’Guin Decorative Arts has a core group of artisans located in Naples, Florida, plus an extensive network of artisans throughout the country. For more information, call (239) 434-9999.
