Macquarie Hosting Joins the Green Grid
Macquarie Hosting, a division of Macquarie Telecom, today announced it has become a member of The Green Grid, a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centres and business computing environments.
Sydney, Australia, July 23, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Macquarie Hosting, a division of Macquarie Telecom, today announced it has become a member of The Green Grid, a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centres and business computing environments.
Macquarie Telecom’s participation in The Green Grid further enforces the company’s commitment to the management of energy and power usage in the data centre and complements the work it has carried out in its hosting business to reduce data centre energy consumption.
Not only does Macquarie Telecom monitor its own data centre power usage through the use of tools that measure and monitor the impacts on power management and metrics in the Macquarie Hosting data centre, but it also works with customers to boost energy efficiency in their own data centres.
“Macquarie Hosting is taking a practical rather than theoretical approach to creating an eco-friendly, energy efficient data centre,” said Aidan Tudehope, Managing Director, Hosting, Macquarie Telecom.
“We work closely with our vendors to understand how we can maximise the ‘green effectiveness’ of their solutions, always with our customers in mind. Our company is focused on helping customers turn plans into actions that result in quantifiable energy efficiency gains.”
Macquarie Hosting joins several organisations within The Green Grid representing critical segments of the data centre ecosystem. The Green Grid Board of Directors is comprised of the following member companies: AMD, APC, Dell, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Rackable Systems, SprayCool, Sun Microsystems and VMware.
The Green Grid seeks to provide industry-wide recommendations on best practices, metrics and technologies that will improve overall data centre and business computing energy efficiencies. By joining The Green Grid, Macquarie, is helping influence both developers and end users of data centre technology.
