Duncan Tannahill Wins Award at ActionCOACH Conference
“My mission is to help local business people create sustainable prosperity for themselves.”
Las Vegas, NV, July 24, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Duncan Tannahill is an ActionCOACH based in Glasgow, Scotland and recently won a prestigious “Coaches’ Coach of the Year Award” during ActionCOACH’s annual UK, European and African conference, held recently in London.
Duncan is a commercially experienced senior executive with a wealth of knowledge of the business world. His experience is vast - after starting his professional life as a graduate trainee for a private business, his career quickly moved on and he was soon working for Lex Service plc, the fleet management group, where he had overall responsibility for six businesses with a combined turnover of £75m per annum.
He also found time to gain a fellowship in the Institute of the Motor Industry, and studied management at Bath University.
His experience does not stop there; Duncan has taken two technology start-up businesses from concept to reality, including business planning, market research, fund raising, and product launches.
With such an impressive record of accomplishment, it is perhaps unsurprising that Glasgow Chamber of Commerce picked him to be their Chief Executive. During his tenure, Duncan oversaw major changes to the organisation’s culture and introduced new products and services designed to help local businesses. Such was his success in this role that the City of Glasgow awarded him its inaugural “Medal for Enterprise” award.
Other significant posts Duncan has held include Chairman of Glasgow World Congress 1995, and founder member of the Glasgow Local Economic Forum.
It is with this incredible level of experience and business expertise behind him that Duncan became part of ActionCOACH nearly three years ago. He realised that ActionCOACH was the perfect vehicle for sharing his in-depth knowledge of operational business with other entrepreneurs and business people.
“I saw ActionCOACH as a great opportunity to support the community,” he says. “My mission is to help local business people create sustainable prosperity for themselves.”
Duncan’s clients come to him from all over Glasgow and the west of Scotland, and from industry sectors as varied as manufacturing and undertaking. According to Duncan, most of his clients have the main problem of spending too much time at the sharp end of their business, rather than being able to work on its viability and future direction.
He is convinced that as long as a client stays with him, he can help transform their business.
Duncan has major plans for the future and in 5 years time he has set himself the target of running an ActionCOACH firm with a turnover in excess of £4million.
Outside work, Duncan enjoys a myriad of activities, chiefly connected with the outdoors, including hill walking, sailing and fishing. A keen DIY enthusiast, he is in the process of building a new house, and is also involved in fundraising for deaf blind charity Sense Scotland, where he is a trustee. Duncan is married with a student son, and a daughter who is a veterinary surgeon with the British Army.
ActionCOACH is the world’s number one business coaching firm, with more than 1,000 offices in 26 countries. To learn more, go to www.actioncoach.com.
