LifeBound Holds Leadership Program at Montbello High School

LifeBound facilitated a Peer Leadership Training session, at Montbello High School on May 14th and 22nd.

Denver, CO, July 24, 2008 --(PR.com)-- This leadership training was held to help students become leaders to their peers.

Students in the Freshmen Success Class were prepared with leadership skills, communication skills and listening skills. These peer leaders will then serve as role models for next year’s freshmen.

This peer leadership training allowed students to discover who their role models are and it helped them to determine who they want to be role models to. Students were also asked to share a story about their life and the successes they hoped it would bring, and to acknowledge other student’s stories.

Jim Hoops, one facilitator stated that, “This taught them to be all that they can be…to see themselves from a different perspective of who they are through other people’s eyes.”

Students also acted out different coaching situations. This helped students learn how to instill coaching into the tutoring of other students.

In the end, students felt as though they learned a lot. They enjoyed the team work involved and they liked the fact that they were taught how to communicate. They learned trust and compassion for each other, how to be good leaders, and how to learn from their mistakes. It helped younger students problem-solve as high school freshmen.
