Foreclosure Prevention Workshop to be Held at Freedom Debt Management, Inc.

Boca Raton, FL, July 24, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Freedom Debt Management, Inc. (“FDM”), a 501(c)(3) non-profit provider of financial literacy and credit counseling will host the first in a series of free housing related workshops for residents of Palm Beach and Broward Counties on Monday, August 4th, 2008 at 6:30PM. FDM is refocusing a substantial part of its counseling resources to the housing crisis as South Florida is one of the areas hardest hit. Mr. Darish Still, Director of Education for FDM and author of their financial literacy guide entitled “Your Money” states “The biggest mistake people make is not communicating with their lending institution as soon as they recognize their ability to make the payments is threatened.”

In light of the Senate passing of the Mortgage Rescue plan on July 11th, 2008, the workshop is quite timely. According to an Associated Press article posted early the next morning: “The plan lets homeowners buckling under mortgage payments they can’t afford keep their homes and get more affordable mortgages backed by the Federal Housing Administration.” The Bill allows for the FHA to insure as much as $300 billion in new mortgages, which they estimate could help as many as 400,000 distressed homeowners.

FDM has been providing credit counseling and financial literacy to the community since April, 2003. Their new housing counseling effort is being funded by a grant from Citigroup.
