'Bubble Joe and His Fantastic Journeys to Zapokrepit in the Land of the Day and a Half' - an Intriguing Novel by George A. Baffour
Morrisville, NC, July 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Bubble Joe and His Fantastic Journeys to Zapokrepit in the Land of the Day and a Half is a novel by the young Ghanaian Oceanographer and Fisheries Scientist, George A. Baffour. This novel is indeed, like its title, an unusual but intriguing read. It promises a ton of surprises.
In the December of 2014, right before Christmas, Bob and Martha Joe move with their son Bubble to the city of Hallan, New York, in haste to take up new positions supervising the establishment of a new branch of the growing media company, Azume Media and Advertising. Unknowingly though, they are followed by an unusual stalker. Fourteen year old Bubble, used to being dragged about from city to city, doesn’t expect too much from Hallan. Little does he know that the days to come in Hallan will change his life forever.
Christmas comes and goes, 2015 begins and Bubble starts school. A strange turn of events sees Bubble begin to experience unexplained headaches and to be haunted by, strange as it may seem, a presence, a very vindictive presence. Events culminate with Bubble meeting a mysterious character, Michael, who takes him to a strange land, the Land of the Day and a Half, and the city of Zapokrepit that lies within it. And this is the just the beginning… The novel then changes tone as it winds its way to a European kingdom far away, through a prominent family’s dynasty, a grand vanishing and the fate of the lives of two hundred and fifty people.
This novel was purposely written to be outrageous, funny, and yet sometimes solemn and deep. The book begins soberly, ventures into blatant fantasy, and then the plot takes a serious detour and by the end lands firmly in the realms of reality as the whole story takes on an air of surprising possibility.
George A. Baffour was born in Accra, the capital city of Ghana in West Africa, on the 10th of September, 1980. George holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Oceanography and Fisheries from the University of Ghana. He currently lives in Accra and is enrolled in a Master of Philosophy degree programme in Fisheries Science at his alma mater. This is his first novel and it is an untypical but thrilling page-turner.
