Ourblook.com Launches - Offers Internet Users a New Way to Explore Public Issues

Naples, FL, July 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Former Fortune 500 CEO, Paul Mongerson, has launched a unique political web 2.0 tool – www.OurBlook.com. The site, a collaboratively written online book, offers individuals a new way of discussing important and timely public issues. Melding current technology, the site provides more depth than a blog, more checks and balances than a wiki, and more flexibility than a traditional book.

“While web 2.0 has provided communities with a new way to connect, it still fails to incorporate any real type of rigor or structure, necessary when analyzing complex public issues. OurBlook fills that gap, and cultivates sophisticated discussions between individuals,” states Paul Mongerson, OurBlook Founder.

OurBlook fuses opinions from numerous and diverse internet users, while providing checks and balances, primarily through editing, to ensure comprehensive and high quality discussions. Currently, the site focuses on important topics that are generally not covered in depth by the mainstream press. This includes China’s impact on international politics, the media’s relationship with public officials, and the current role of the democracy in the US.

“The Blook concept is a new type of web 2.0 tool that cultivates the strengths of websites like Wikipedia, but at the same time provides gentle guidance. The idea is to use the power of collaborative communities to explore complex issues our nation faces, and hopefully come up with solutions that incorporate input from a diverse group of people,” states Gerry Storch, OurBlook editor.

Initial discussion topics and a general outline and summary are provided. Users can then flesh out topics by submitting their opinion either as a registered or anonymous user. Once opinions are received, the editorial team incorporates them into the blook, editing to ensure the topics will improve, grow and update.

The OurBlook system could be used advantageously on a broad range of topics that require input from several and diverse voices. This could range from economics to sports.

Paul Mongerson is an engineer, businessman and author who has had a lifetime interest in the media. He has founded several journalism awards, including the Paul Mongerson Prize at the Medill School of Journalism.
