A live feed on the homepage of www.directline-holidays.co.uk displays the most recently booked holiday, including the basic price, star rating and image. This accompanies a separate rolling display of the 8 most recent searches on the site. The tool updates in real time and users are able to click through and book the same holiday should they wish.

Sales director Matthew Flint said: “With some 12 million holidays available on our website, it is always useful to have some added inspiration, and seeing what other customers are searching for certainly makes the decision process easier.”

Another new function displays the amount of visitors on the site at any one time; an asset which Matthew Flint hopes will reinforce the popularity of the site:
