New Author Uses Weaving Plot Format Similar to Soap Operas to Keep Readers Engaged in Debut Novel, Hostage to Her Heart

Chriss Hill, a native of Central Texas, introduces a fiction romance where she uses all of her characters to keep readers engaged. Each possesses a bit of charm and flawed opinions to affect the plot. It’s a guessing game to figure out what may happen next.

Temple, TX, August 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- This over 600 page, print-on-demand novel available through Authorhouse brings many of the author's interests to life, to include large families, music, and belief that the power of prayer can bring answers to many of our internal conflicts.

“The heroine is a new bride that deals with in-laws and outsiders that create a bit of interference to her life as she settles into her role of wife and mother-to-be. She’s living in a strange country where the customs are different. Her husband is away too often because of navy assignments and he gets baffled how to make their relationship stronger. They both make mistakes. What are their answers to fix their lives? Who gives the best advice? Who holds their destiny? Even her best friend who tagged along undergoes changes,” Chriss Hill explained, “Like a dramatic soap, the characters encountered make you either love them or hate them, but then they do something to change your mind. You have to dig deep to figure out their motives overall. In my book, even the maids make observations about what’s happening in these particular households and put in their two cents. Everyone is flawed, but then just like us, aren't we all in some way?”

The story, pulled out from a longer manuscript, follows the lives of two childhood “cosmic” friends, Tara Reece and Ross Kelly. The story begins in the late 1970’s, a time of transition in music and fashion. The friends ignites romances along their journey to self-discovery as they come up from poverty boroughs in Brooklyn to a life of fame. Chriss is currently working on sequels to continue their saga.

“The pair has an unbreakable bond and so the people that ultimately loves one, has to put up with the other. It makes for interesting conflicts along the way,” Chriss Hill added.

The story within Hostage to Her Heart begins like this:

Tara’s in trouble. The boy she loved gone. By fluke circumstances, she took fertility pills. Ross loves her, but is in no position to support her. They meet Danny Cross, a Royal Navy Officer visiting the states, who eventually whisks the pair away to reside in England. Tara had married Danny, but struggles to love him. Once there in Wiltshire, the pregnancy becomes at risk. His rich family interferes and Danny’s at sea too often, while Ross is conveniently close by. Can the miracle of life resolve indifferences between the couple and the family? Will Tara learn her true destiny? It becomes clear through their children that only God hold the answers for their future.

“I really enjoyed this book! One of the first that I have read with a combined family, such as real life. The book was engaging with many twists and kept me wanting more. I can’t wait to see where the next book takes these characters,” said Kelly, a recent reviewer on Barnes & Nobles.

Aimee Linde from Washington State, an author of a children’s book, KobiKobis Island, stated: “Hostage to Her Heart (is) an incredible story about a woman who has to find herself amidst the sudden role of motherhood...at a young age. Her journey to self discovery keeps you guessing who she falls for: her handsome husband she married out of convenience; or her best friend from childhood. (It’s) a breath of fresh air compared to other smutty romance novels. This book will keep you involved and guessing, but most of all you will love the characters and find yourself in their shoes right along with them. It’s an amazing story and you’ll be glad you read it! Trust me! Stars.. Between 1-5..My score 10!”

Chriss also revealed that the love scenes are written with the 'softer side to romance in mind', which means the words are not pornographic or too erotic in description.

“I do write with candor so you do realize what’s happening, but I don’t make the scenes vulgar or write with foul language. There are other books for that, but this is not one of them," the author explained, "I wanted to write about the heart of the characters emotions and their personal conflicts, how they resolve their issues and what makes them tick inside.”
