About the Book (Excerpts & Info)
Living with a disability sure is hard work. But contrary to popular belief, it's really not the end of the world. Oooo I can just hear the grumbling now. That there woman is just plain crazy.
On April 30th, 1975, my life was turned inside out when I became the victim of a horrific car crash. My body and face had to be reconstructed and so was my soul. I now faced life from a wheelchair.
I always thought I would write “about it” but looking around, many others have done so. They all have courageous, inspiring tales to tell and I really didn’t want to do that. Don’t get me wrong. I have lots of respect for those who relive those nightmares and are able to share it with the world.
But what about plain old every day life? What about the regular things like errant toilet seats, negotiating thongs, the total terror of resuming "intimate" moments or just the adventures of ageing and not liking it one bit. The result is this collection of short stories. Just the facts told from a wacky perspective. No pity, self or otherwise, allowed...maybe just a little whinning is ok.
My accident turned out to one of those secret blessings and I view it as such.
Some day I’ll write about the other side.
Deftly constructed at 177 pages, Ability to Sleep On Toilet Required is being aggressively promoted to appropriate markets with a focus on the Humorous Stories category. With U.S. wholesale distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and pervasive online availability through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, Ability to Sleep On Toilet Required meets consumer demand through both retail and library markets with a suggested retail price of $13.95.
