2008 GOYA National Black Bean Eating Championship at Central Islip Islandia Festival
“2008 GOYA national black bean eating championship,” sanctioned by “A.I.C.E.” association of International competitive eaters – “under Picnic style rules!” It will be a great fun filled entertaining spectacle for all to enjoy. Proudly Central Islip has been chosen as the home hosting community for the GOYA national black bean eating championships, qualifiers from around the nation will converge on Central Islip.
Central Islip, NY, August 12, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Come one come all to the 2008 Central Islip Islandia Chamber festival. Opening the festival, Boys & Girls Scouts honor guard will lead all in the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence in support for our troops. Hosting this family fun event is the Central Islip Islandia chamber of commerce. Live performances, exhibitions, Live music, 3 DJ’s, food vendors selling everything from roasted corn, sausage & peppers, zeppolis, to gourmet hotdogs, old fashioned egg cream sodas and ice cream. Wonderful artisans offering handmade crafts of all kinds; wood carvings, flowers, handbags and Jewelry. Knowing how families are struggling today, chamber asked all our civic and community groups to provide free items for kids under 12 years of age. The chamber is proud to offer free pony rides, petting zoo, face painting, coloring books and crayons, back packs, candy and more. These terrific organizations will engage with the families introducing them to the great services available and their committees focus work. In addition at their respective booths each will also have their own mini fundraiser offers. The chamber hopes all will take part and support their efforts. New York State, Suffolk County and Town officials will be on hand to meet and speak to the people.

Central Islip chamber of commerce is working to increase commerce by attracting new business and shoppers to the down town area. The chamber can help businesses interested in setting up shop with everything from real estate, networking, to helping with grants. More important is to make connections with the local and surrounding area residents, offering information, programs and services for their families, especially for the children. One of the chambers goals is to raise funds, $20,000 annually for scholarships. Moreover; The chamber has created a mentoring program for young people who are interested in being entrepreneur's, in fact you’ll find dozens of local youth who have created and developed products, of which they will be offering for sale at the festival. The chamber is developing this entrepreneur program to encourage and guide young people on their way. Large corporations, small business owners and non-profit organizations a like will be offering entrepreneurial guidance services and support. In addition the chamber of commerce plan is developing a small business incubator in the community.
