Strategic Guru Inc., a Triangle-based marketing and communications firm, has been recognized as a 2007 Gold Award winner in the MarCom Creative Awards 2007 Competition for their design and development of a “green” direct mail series for Accent Construction. In addition, an Honorable Mention was earned for another green marketing project, a brochure for Free Rain, a water harvesting system.

“We have several clients that are providing products and services that contribute to a sustainable future,” said Carolyn Rhinebarger, owner of Strategic Guru. “It is an honor to work with them and to be recognized for our efforts to employ marketing techniques that reduce the impact on our environment.”

Both the direct mail campaign and the brochure used certified paper that ensured use of wood from sustainable forests and were printed using vegetable-based inks in a printing facility whose electrical power is off set by NC Green Power renewable energy. To date, the effort has resulted in saving over 1000 pounds of wood, over 1000 gallons of water, and over 2.5 million BTUs of energy while reducing landfill waste by nearly 150 pounds.

The MarCom Creative Awards Competition is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. The competition is one of the largest of its kind and includes entries from Fortune 50 companies, media conglomerates and a wide range of agencies.

Strategic Guru, a Triangle-based marketing and communications firm, announced that Chief Brainstormer Carolyn Rhinebarger was awarded the Mary Diener Spirit Award by the Greater Raleigh chapter of the National Association of Business Owners. The award was presented on June 27th at the 2007 annual installation and awards dinner held at Brier Creek Country Club.

To be eligible for the award, a NAWBO member must demonstrate outstanding accomplishments that support the organization, practice innovation, and serve as a role model and mentor to other women business owners. In her role as Vice President of Membership for Greater Raleigh NAWBO, Rhinebarger was recognized for her innovative efforts to grow local membership of the NAWBO chapter.

“Utilizing her in-depth knowledge of marketing and strategy, solid analytical skills and collaborative leadership style, Carolyn strategically approached the position of Membership Co-Vice President and organized the strongest membership campaign our chapter has ever experienced,” said Charlotte DiLeonardo, former President of Greater Raleigh NAWBO and CEO of Zebra Print Solutions. “She embraced the spirit of NAWBO and provided one-on-one marketing and strategy services at no charge to many of our members.”
