About
www.jrgiants.orgThe Giants Community Fund uses baseball as a forum to encourage youngsters and their families to live healthy, productive lives. The Fund supports Junior Giants summer baseball leagues and collaborates with the efforts of the San Francisco Giants to provide assistance to targeted community efforts in the areas of education, health and violence prevention. Since its inception in 1991, the Fund has donated more than $6 million to various community programs. The Fund is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Junior Giants, the flagship program of the Giants Community Fund, serves youth 5 to18 years old, both in the inner cities and rural areas of Northern and Central California, Nevada and Oregon. Along with the fundamentals of baseball, the leagues stress building self-esteem, education and leadership. Over 1,200 volunteers from local Police Activities Leagues, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCAs and Recreation and Parks departments donate their time as coaches and mentors to over 700 teams in 60 leagues throughout California, Nevada and Oregon. This year more than 13,000 young people will run the bases as Junior Giants. The Giants Community Fund is grateful to Bank of America for stepping up to the plate as Presenting Sponsor of the Junior Giants program.
