About
www.investingame.comSRF was incorporated in the Fall of 2003 with the initial purpose to research solutions for 'vulnerable' groups in society, e.g. children, immigrants, elderly. It quickly became evident that millions of Americans had suffered severe losses in their stock market portfolios, often without knowing why or how to avoid this in the future. The result was the largest withdrawal of funds by consumers in the history of the market. SRF began to investigate why this happened, and what the average consumer (nonprofessional investor) should know about investing.
The result was a need for a program with the following characteristics:
• Emotions - people didn't trust the market, brokers who had lost their money, or their own ability to control their emotions when investing
• Protect against major losses
• Easy to learn - not too time consuming
• Easy to apply - again, requiring just minutes a day preferably after work hours
• Money management - to address issues such as minimal investment amount requirements, how much or what percentage of investable funds to place in any one stock
• Drill - merely presenting a general list of rules would be insufficient. People would have to paper trade for months to acquire skill. This would be unlikely, from our surveys, because often there was insufficient motivation or feedback. Therefore, a system to practice applying the rules was needed.
• All this needed to be packaged into an educational, practical yet enjoyable experience.
• Finally, it had to be low-cost. Most people simply will not spend many hundreds or thousands of dollars for personal investing education, although typically far more than that is at risk.
