Mobile rig utilization in the Gulf of Mexico rose this week as one semi went idle, offset by a return to contracted for two jackups previously counted as idle. Total fleet utilization is now 59% with 72 of 122 mobile rigs under contract or committed for work. Marketed utilization, which excludes those cold stacked and other non-marketed rigs, is virtually unchanged at 85.7% with 72 of the 84 units under contract. - June 23, 2010
