Aeronautical Engineer R. C. Winn Contributes to Industry Newsletter
Robert C. Winn, Ph.D., P.E., Principal Engineer at Engineering Systems Inc. (ESI), recently wrote an article, “Aircraft Icing for Dummies,” for the fall edition of Skywritings, a newsletter published by the Defense Research Institute (DRI) Aerospace Law Committee. The article describes conditions under which icing can be expected to occur, gives examples, explains some of the possible effects of ice on an airplane, and discusses a few examples of accidents with icing as a factor. - November 05, 2008
ESI Senior Engineer and Scientist Reveal Results of the “Next Generation Rail Tank Car” Project at U of I Railroad Conference
Philip J. Daum, P.E., ESI mechanical engineer and Senior Consultant, and Zdenek (Zed) Hejzlar, Ph.D., CSP, ESI environmental scientist and Senior Consultant, gave a poster presentation, “Preventing Release – Improved Puncture Resistance of Hazardous Materials Tank Cars,” at the 2008 Railroad Environmental Conference (RREC) at the University of Illinois campus. This is a summary of work from the recently concluded “Next Generation Rail Tank Car” project, of which Mr. Daum was an integral part. - November 05, 2008
