Barbara Becker Hurley Sponsors The Learning Alliance Summer Literacy Program at Gifford Youth Activity Center
Local philanthropist Barbara Becker Hurley has made a generous gift of $25,000 to the Gifford Youth Activity Center. This gift will enable up to 30 children to receive literacy tutoring. Students who are attending summer camp at the Gifford Youth Activity Center and are in need of reading support will be eligible for the free tutoring. - June 29, 2011

Local residents Jerry and Karol Lynch have sponsored The Learning Alliance Literacy Program at The Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County. This gift will enable up to 30 children to receive literacy tutoring over the summer at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County. Students who are attending summer camp at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County and are in need of reading support will be eligible for the free tutoring. - June 24, 2011
The Learning Alliance Launches Summer Literacy Programs
The Learning Alliance held a training session at Citrus Elementary School for all tutors participating in summer literacy programs. 35 tutors attended as well as reading professors from Indian River State College, leadership from Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and a teacher from Saint Edwards School. Training was led by experienced Learning Alliance teachers and master coaches. The hands-on training allowed tutors to practice the activities they will do with their students when tutoring begins. - June 16, 2011
The Learning Alliance Introduces Programs to Treasure Coast Leaders
