Unique Orangutan Scholarship Program Reaches Major Milestone
Since 2006, 94 multi-year scholarships in the name of the orangutan have been awarded to Indonesian students in the fields of biology, forestry and veterinary science. Over 50 students have graduated and have become advocates of orangutan conservation within Indonesia's diverse workforce. The 100th scholarship milestone will be reached and surpassed during ceremonies in North Sumatra and West Kalimantan in late June 2016. - May 06, 2016

Orangutans, the great apes of Indonesia and Malaysia, will be topic of celebration and concern by numerous organizations during Orangutan Caring Week, November 4-10, 2007. It is an opportunity for the public to learn more about this marvelous species, their role in the rainforest environment of Borneo and Sumatra, and their continuing struggle to survive.
