New Book Provides Unprecedented Look at Adolescent Mental Health Care
Twenty percent of the nation’s children under the age of 18 are affected with emotional and behavioral disorders and between 6 and 9 million of them suffer from what are known as serious emotional disabilities (SED). Each year, hundreds of thousands of these young people are admitted to out-of-home placements. The author of a new book, a registered nurse with twenty-plus years' experience, believes that it’s time to question the validity and benefit of many of these out-of-home placements. - April 18, 2008
