Author Overcomes Adversity After Being Pronounced Dead at Birth

Author, Christopher Coleman's first book, 'Solitary Refinement,' is a personal achievement after being pronounced dead at birth. But after 15 minutes, he began to breathe. However, this trauma caused him to have cerebral palsy. Coleman's doctor said that he would live a life imprisoned by his body and that he would never be able to move, walk, or talk. Against all odds, Coleman taught himself to read and is the first in his family to graduate college. - February 06, 2009
