Desert Star Helps Tag Loggerheads in the Gulf with SeaTag
Loggerhead sea turtles were tagged in Casey Key, Florida in June 2010 with SeaTag solar powered, geomagnetic tags. The loggerheads return to nest at Casey Key which allows researchers an opportunity to tag the turtles to study migration movements and the effects of different biological and man made effects on the turtles. With the recent BP oil spill, this will be important to observe the turtles to know if they are staying out of the spill area or not. - July 10, 2010
Highly Advanced Archival Fish Tag with RF Transmitting Capabilities
Desert Star Systems of California is a manufacturer of new, technologically advanced animal tags. They first developed a small geo-location tag (SeaTag-GEO), which has been given high praise for its advances in tagging technology. Following this Desert Star is introducing SeaTag-SOL which comes standard with a long list of sensors and capabilities. - November 08, 2009
Desert Star Systems' Acoustic Release is Reliable
ARCADIS uses Desert Star Systems' ARC-1 acoustic release to retrieve fish traps from the sea floor. ARCADIS deployed 26 releases and were able to trigger all 26 with no problems. Desert Star Systems' ARC-1 uses a patented burn-wire mechanism that is very reliable. - August 16, 2009
Desert Star Systems' Geo-Magnetic Archival Fish Tag
Desert Star Systems of California is manufacturing a small archival fish tag. It uses Earth's magnetic field to determine latitude and it's solar cell is used to determine longitude. Also, it's solar cell is used at the charging unit for the aerogel capacitor, No Batteries. Software is open sourced and available to customers for review and implementing their own software... A revolutionary tag. - August 13, 2009
