Eau Thermale Avène Teams Up with National Psoriasis Foundation to Raise Awareness

New York, NY, August 15, 2008 --(PR.com)-- For many Americans, summer is the highlight of the year, a time for swimming, sunning and skimpier clothing. But for millions of people with psoriasis, summertime often means being turned away from swimming pools, hair salons and gyms. Those with psoriasis often face discrimination and embarrassment in public places simply because others fear that psoriasis is contagious. The misperception that psoriasis can be “caught” is what the National Psoriasis Foundation aims to dispel during Psoriasis Awareness Month in August.

This August, Eau Thermale Avène is teaming up with the National Psoriasis Foundation to raise awareness both within and outside of the psoriasis community. At this year’s National Psoriasis Foundation 2008 National Conference in Orlando, Fla., the skincare brand hosts Get Into the Pool, an event that gives those suffering from the skin disease a chance to enjoy swimming without any stigma and make friends within the community. Held Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel from 6 to 8 p.m., the event will include poolside activities as well as a BBQ. Avène is proud to continue their ongoing efforts to give back.
