2008 Master of the Year, World Martial Arts Black Belt Hall of Fame honoree Sifu Jocelyn Toy just returned from Malaysia a couple weeks ago with his new title of Master of the Year over all Martial Arts Disciplines recognized by the Board Of Directors Of International Martial Arts Research Institute. While in Malaysia he competed with all the Martial Arts Masters around the world at the Shaolin Master Tournament. Sifu triumphed when he won the Gold. This was quite an accomplishment after spending the last three years between North America and Beijing serving as the Vice President on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies committee where he was responsible for the choreography of the Tai Chi portion of the 2008 Opening Ceremonies.
Sifu Toy has now announced that he is holding open auditions in 12 major cities around the US in search of The First Open US National Team of Kung Fu(TM). Not only is the auditions open to all martial arts disciplines (currently there hundreds of kinds of Kung Fu and typically they only compete Nationally within their own discipline), but open to all those that have never practiced Kung Fu and only dreamed of being a National athlete. As Master of the year, Sifu Toy has set out to reunite Kung Fu and reach out to others that only dream about it, but know they have what it takes to be a true contender.

About the Process
There will be an application process to test character and desire. Two important qualities to building a team, and to be on a team that represents all the philosophies of Kung Fu. All applicants will be asked to describe their life philosophy and why they feel they should be move on to the next process of the audition. Sifu Toy always reminds his students “Kung Fu is a way of life which starts in the mind.”
Applications can be downloaded at www.sifutoy.com and must be returned no later than Oct. 26, 2008.
Applicants moving to the next level will receive level 2 passes to live castings in 12 major locations around the US (TBA after October based on location of level 2 winners.). These Auditions will occur the middle of November, and the Final casting will occur in mid-January. Once the team is selected training will begin.
The Team
The First Open US National Team of Kung Fu will travel around the world to select competitions in Switzerland, Rome, Brazil, Taiwan, Malaysia, and more. This will be just the beginning for the National Team. There many exciting changes taking place in Martial Arts, World Championships, and World Sports. That’s why now is the time to make sure the US has united representation in a sport that has existed for thousands of years.
