Workout for St. Jude Event to Raise Funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

Auburn, AL, January 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A Workout for St. Jude event will be gearing up on Saturday, January 24 at 9:00 am at AC Fitness for Women in Auburn. The event will raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, the premier center for the research and treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases.

“St. Jude is the leader in the fight against catastrophic childhood diseases such as leukemia, brain tumors and sickle cell disease,” said Jennifer Strekas Coombs, coordinator of the event. “Through events like this Workout for St. Jude, Auburn will be supporting the St. Jude mission of finding cures and saving children from across the country and around the world.”

This community exercise event will feature two group fitness classes and an AB Crunch Challenge. A Bodypump class will begin at 9am and a Bodyjam class will begin at 10:15am. Club members as well as the general public can participate in for a donation of $10 per class or $15 for both classes. All proceeds go to St. Judes. There also will be an Ab Crunch Challenge starting at 10 a.m. after Bodypump, and participants can raise funds by obtaining sponsors and asking them to pledge a flat donation or an amount-per-crunch. There will be a prize for the person who does the most crunches in 15 minutes. Participants are encouraged to bring their family and friends (you do not have to be a member). For more information or to participate, contact Jen at jen@fitnessforwomenauburn.com or call the gym at 334-826-9444.

Through programs like Workout for St. Jude, the idea of St. Jude founder Danny Thomas to raise funds for the hospital through community-based events is able to continue.
