International Yogalayam Offers Yoga Training by Donation
For the month of January, 2009, International Yogalayam is pleased to announce that they are accepting enrollment in their yoga distance education programs by donation only.
Vancouver, Canada, January 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- For the month of January, 2009, International Yogalayam is accepting enrollment in their “3 Weeks of Yoga E-course,” and their “Ashtanga Yoga Home Study Program” by donation only.
“One of the reasons,” says Yogacharya, the director of International Yogalayam “is that during these challenging economic times, we want to do whatever we can to make our yoga training programs accessible to everyone.”
Another reason is that donation, or “dakshina” as it is called in Sanskrit, is an age-old tradition in yoga. In return for the immeasurable gifts of greater understanding that they were given, students offered their teacher whatever they could afford. This donation was referred to as Guru Dakshina. It was a sacred offering of sincere gratitude and respect by the student to their teacher.
“Dakshina is also an important part of the practice of yoga itself,” says Yogacharya. “It gives us an opportunity to look further within ourselves, and to take a closer look at some of our hidden attitudes and motivations. Giving dakshina helps us to cultivate greater integrity, as well as a further appreciation for our teachers and the wonderful gifts that they share with us.”
This dakshina initiative provides an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in exploring yoga to take advantage of the comprehensive, life-transforming yoga training programs offered through International Yogalayam.
