Runterra Green Race Series Now Part of BuFest Music Festival in Malibu
A Huge Concert and a Five-Mile Race Team Up to Turn Thousands of People “Green.”
Malibu, CA, February 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Today the Runterra Race Series (www.runterra.com) announces its second race in a nationwide series of running events to take place in Malibu, California at the Paramount Movie Ranch on May 31, 2009 in conjunction with the BuFest Music Festival (www.bufest.com). BuFest features 50 bands on three stages, 144 vendors, and strives to have zero impact on the environment. Now Runterra Malibu will offer an 8K race to add a fun fitness component to this incredible concert event that celebrates keeping our planet healthy. Runterra participants receive free entry into BuFest’s Vendor Village to shop and learn, a reusable grocery bag filled with goodies from sponsors, as well as a tree planted in their name to help off-set their carbon footprint. Runterra is aligned with BuFest’s efforts to keep the event as “green” as possible by providing alternative transportation, discounts to those riding bikes or buses to the race, recycling waste, and employing many other earth-conscious practices.
The Runterra Race Series is the first major U.S. multi-event running race series using a “green” platform to produce races that will have a minimal impact on the environment by recycling at least 50% of all products used to produce each event and by partnering the most successful green living expos and organizations nationwide. The Runterra Race Series is hoping to make a big impact on our environment because runners already have a great appreciation for the outdoors and the world around them.
“BuFest is a truly amazing event and we are thrilled to be part of their fun and important efforts to introduce people to simple ways they can help preserve the planet,” explains Corky Sturtevant, Race Director for Runterra. “Runners tend to lead fairly healthy lifestyles. Now we want to help everyone understand how to keep the planet healthy too. BuFest will help us achieve the perfect blend of green and fit to create the perfect event!”
About Runterra
Ultimately, the goal of Runterra is to produce a race that is 100% “green. Because runners log many miles on dirt trails, mountain sides, pavement, streets, and even snow they are the perfect audience to help make a big impact on preserving the planet. Now Runterra is asking runners to take a stand toward preserving the earth; learn ways in which they can live a little (or a lot) more green. Runterra will stage events where runners join efforts to create less waste by using recyclable or biodegradable products, lower fuel emissions by providing plenty of access to public transportation and incentives for walking or biking to the event, and more flexibility for runners by including a virtual race. Runterra is a division of national non-profit seeMOMMYrun.com. For more information visit www.runterra.com.
