FDA Clears "Healing Light" for Treating Osteoarthritis of the Hand
The QLaser (low level laser), developed by Dr. Larry Lytle, has been FDA cleared for treatment of osteoarthritis of the hand. The first low level laser to achieve over the counter clearance by the FDA.
Rapid City, SD, March 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Billions of dollars equal a staggering loss in the Untied States economy due to medical costs and decrease in productivity. The culprit, osteoarthritis. However, The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared a new therapy for home use that alleviates pain and inflammation with no side effects. This therapy is the Q Laser System, a low level laser. This marks the first low level laser to be cleared by the FDA for over the counter use treating Osteoarthritis of the Hand.
Osteoarthritis cannot currently be cured, but effective treatments can improve the quality of life of millions of people. To many people, it comes as exciting news that the FDA has recently approved a low-level laser treatment, the QLaser, for treating osteoarthritis in the hands. The Q1000 is a Class I laser device that has been classified by the FDA as a non-significant risk device as related to eye injuries, yet helps the body release endorphins (natural painkillers) reduce inflammation, increase circulation, help heal damaged cell membranes and boost cells’ energy levels, resulting in less pain and more healing. Keeping a personal laser, like the QLaser, at home can help patients address their osteoarthritis without turning to costly medical treatments.
The clinical, placebo controlled study, that led to the FDA clearance of this low level laser, saw statistically significant improvements in pain, range of motion, and patient satisfaction by using the Q1000 low level laser and Flash Probe. These hand held devices are applied to 10 treatment points over a 9 day schedule. Subjects in the study reported a 60% decrease in pain, and an 82% increase in range of motion over the “sham laser” group. Furthermore, every subject reported having no side effects from the low level laser treatment.
In the book Universal Healer: Book 1 Osteoarthritis, Dr. Larry Lytle proclaims, “For osteoarthritis of the hand, in particular, we will present amazing evidence of the ability of low level laser therapy to alleviate pain that often cripples hands and restricts their use.”
