New Service Alerts You When Your Family is in Danger
SafetyAlertNetwork.org, a non-profit organization, has released a free, first of its kind, service which allows the general public to be alerted via cell phone text message, software, and e-mail of Amber Alerts, sex offender movement, boil water and evacuation orders, severe weather, emergency school bulletins, and Homeland Security alerts, all based on the person’s geographic location.
Detroit, MI, July 20, 2006 --(PR.com)-- SafetyAlertNetwork.org has officially launched a free, first of its kind, service which immediately notifies the public of: Amber Alerts, Sex offender movement, Federal/State/local government advisories, severe weather, emergency school bulletins, and Department of Homeland Security level changes.
What makes the service so unique is it’s use of geographic location information to only notify people who are affected by an alert, and the fact that it notifies them via cell phone, software, and email so regardless of whether they are sitting in a car, or in front of a computer they’ll receive the alert minutes after it’s been issued. The system can also track multiple locations so for instance, a parent can receive alerts that affect where family members may spend a large amount of time such as schools, babysitters, child care centers, etc.
The systems use of geographic location solves other problems, for example, currently when a child is abducted only the state where the abduction occurred issues an Amber Alert. This creates a problem when the abduction occurs close to a state border, or when the suspect is known to be heading for a different state. SafetyAlertNetwork.org solves this problem by not only alerting everyone in the state, but also alerting everyone who lives within a 200 mile radius of where the abduction occurred, and to known cities the abductor may be heading.
While most US states publish a list of convicted sex offenders on the internet, generally they do not provide sophisticated mapping that will show you exactly where these individuals reside in relation to your home, nor do they provide a way of updating you when additional offenders move into your area. In comparison we provide a detailed map of a neighborhood, pinpointing where sex offenders have registered their home addresses, and in some states, where they are employed. The service then continually monitors and alerts the public to new sex offenders who move close to them.
The service and Alert Center software are provided free of charge at the organizations website (www.SafetyAlertNetwork.org)
