Popular EdgePilates Workouts and Instructor Training Now Available Online
Ft. Lauderdale, FL, May 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- As the recession strains household budgets, sales of fitness DVDs have grown significantly this year over last. And, as the popularity of Pilates continues to skyrocket, EdgePilates now enables individuals to take advantage of economical, convenient workouts anywhere at anytime with its new online routines, EdgePilates On DemandTM.
In addition, aspiring Pilates instructors can benefit from individual instruction for certification training through the EdgePilates Institute, which will provide extensive education workshops online, beginning June 1. The first of its kind, this online training represents the Classical Pilates method.
All programs are designed and led by the dynamic, Gold Certified Pilates Instructor and EdgePilates founder Taunya Foerster, who trained in the classic Pilates style and was one of the first people to take the rigorous Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) standardized Pilates certification test. With a B.S. in Exercise Science and Wellness from Florida Atlantic University, Foerster also holds a Pilates for Golf Certification, a Rehabilitation Pilates Program certificate, a personal training certificate from the American College of Sports Medicine and a black belt in martial arts.
“I am tremendously passionate about making Pilates available easily to everyone in the world, whether or not people can consistently access a studio or health club,” said Foerster, “because it has such an effect on the mind, body and spirit and brings about incredible changes in one’s overall being.”
EdgePilates On Demand
Available at www.edgepilateseducation.com, Pilates workouts are currently mat-based without props, with a range of beginner, intermediate and advanced routines, and lasting from a 10-minute tune-up to a full 45-minutes. Sessions using props such as the magic circle and toning ball will be added shortly, and routines eventually will include those on equipment such as the Reformer, Chair and Cadillac.
Exercisers can access a complimentary, 12-minute demonstration video at the website to experience Foerster’s gentle guidance and the beautiful EdgePilates studio setting.
Additional videos are available at three levels: $3.95 for a single download; $22.99 for a monthly subscription (which includes five downloads and 5% off any online store purchase); and $249.99 for an annual subscription with unlimited video downloads, 10% off any online store item valued at up to $50 and $100 discount on an EdgePilates instructor certification training.
Hard copy DVDs of any EdgePilates workout in the online library also can be purchased at the website for $12.95.
Pilates Instructor Certification Online Training
To encourage Pilates aficionados to become Pilates instructors, Foerster has transformed her Classical Pilates Teacher Training live workshops into online instructional videos through the EdgePilates Institute. This unique approach to certification, which is comprised of the identical content of the live class sessions, helps meet the ongoing demand for additional certified Pilates instructors in a convenient, efficient manner in which students can learn at their own pace.
The online instructor training is ideally suited to Pilates students who may be unable to travel to EdgePilates in Ft. Lauderdale for each workshop, offering significant cost and time savings, the ultimate in convenience and the ability to continually review video materials as personal learning styles dictate.
Foerster offers four workshops: mat, beginner, intermediate and advanced; the beginner, intermediate and advanced utilize Pilates apparatus such as the Reformer, Chair, Cadillac, Tower and Barrels. Continuing education credits are provided through the American Council on Exercise and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.
After viewing the videos and reading the Classical Pilates manual, students are required to complete 50 hours of self-study, observation of and participation in classes and student teaching for mat certification, and 450 hours for comprehensive certification. Upon fulfillment of training hours, candidates participate in an onsite test-out with a comprehensive written and practical exam with Foerster at the EdgePilates studio.
“I want to make Pilates more accessible and affordable, without sacrificing the classical teachings of Joseph Pilates,” notes Foerster. “This unique program capitalizes on technology to facilitate economical, effective education.”
