The Tank Faces Sound Issue, Programming Threatened: a New York City Call to Action

New York, NY, July 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Supporters must remember The Tank’s service to the New York City emerging arts community where artists are never charged to perform, ticket prices remain under $15 and programming is kept inclusive and all-ages. Since January 2009, a volunteer-majority staff at the new Hell’s Kitchen theater space strives to keep academic and family friendly events like the Blip Festival, The Bent Festival, Come Out and Play Festival (in conjunction with the Times Square Alliance); minority and LGBT shows like American Blackout and Volcano’s Birthright{s}; as well as the displaced aerial show, Above the Belt, from the Zipper Factory closure. It is of extreme importance that The Tank be an asset to the neighborhood by holding community meetings with elected officials and community organizations while providing a safe, legal environment for all-ages music events. As more New York City venues close their doors, under 21 patrons and artists are pushed out to unsafe, illegal venues.

Donations of any amount are needed to continue soundproofing construction.
