‘Inventor of the Year’ Finalist Giving Away His "Bionic Fitness Devices" to Disabled Americans

The award winning inventor and founder of High Efficiency Fitness Company is giving 50 of their Bionic Fitness Devices, "Lower Body Oars," away to Physically Disabled Americans

‘Inventor of the Year’ Finalist Giving Away His "Bionic Fitness Devices" to Disabled Americans
Columbus, OH, February 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- According to the independent inventor of a bionic fitness device designed to “fully” exercise the core and heart muscles of people too old, disabled or obese to walk stand or swim:

“You have to go all the way back to the Wright Brothers to find science curriculum changing, or industry starting US Utility Patent issued to just an independent person, without substantial funds, universities, or a big organizations backing them.”

That is what tonight’s “Inventor of the Year” (held annually by the Ohio State University affiliated Group TechColumbus) contender Craig Wise, is hoping to accomplish with his very simple bionic fitness device meant to greatly strengthen almost any physically disabled person.

When asked “Why this invention, he calls Lower Body Oars or LOBOS, is important enough to be mentioned in the same breath as the “Flying Machine,” he responded:

“The fitness of countless millions of physically disabled people is like humanity before aviation, grounded. Disabled legs cannot be pushed hard enough to keep the bodies and hearts attached to them strong and fit. Because all traditional core mobility/cardio exercise methods drive extreme exercise forces through the legs they are useless for millions of debilitated people.

“The disabled market needs fitness more then any other, yet it has never had anything designed to reach past their debilitations to fully oppose (fight, work, hinder, load, exercise) the full range body core muscle motions. LOBOS work the place of the legs so these people can fully exercise their body core and hearts muscles. Also because they direct all resistance force against core muscle contractions instead of through joint motions, they work with never before seen efficiency.

“They also are used in extreme comfort, thus allowing people too old, obese or disabled to walk stand or swim to also enjoy the great health, self image and financial benefits of having a strong body and real stamina.”

When asked “Why would they put themselves through the pain of exercise?” He responded:

“Almost all pain during a workout comes from joints pushing their limits, not from the muscles pushing theirs. I design things that carry exercise forces instead of joints and bones so stout exercise becomes nearly painless.

“The painful “Plateau” weightlifters and athletes hit happens when their muscles can no longer be pushed to their limits because their joints begin reaching theirs first. But the big advantage here is for those people who have little or no knee or elbow strength, as they reach that same plateau before they can deeply exercise their core or heart muscles.

“Because nothing existed for their core muscles and hearts to apply and receive stout exercise forces through, tens of millions of mobility disabled people are plagued with full body atrophy. LOBOS are that product, and they won’t compete against other fitness products; instead they and several more of my inventions will link this huge untouched market to the existing fitness product world.

“LOBOS alone will open an enormous opportunity for existing health clubs, and create a need for tens of thousands of new trainers, because these new members will still need qualified constant and permanent help. This also opens a new opportunity for the schools to certify these trainers.”

He explained that atrophy leaves countless mobility disabled people highly vulnerable to many other health problems. “I believe atrophy is costing health care providers, insures and taxpayers billions of dollars every week, by paying to treat conditions that stronger bodies naturally resist.”

“We don’t build LOBO prototypes in a fancy R&D department; we use the old garage in my back yard where I keep my old car. After four years of redesigning we built 24 levels of prototypes (18 lower). I could not afford to make a different mold for each size a few prototypes were to prove a design we could cut down to fit most sizes. So far we have them working on folks ranging from 3’6” to 6’8”and from about 50 to 600 pounds,” Wise who calls his science “Fitness Engineering” claims.

“We now have 50 LOBO prototype cores ready to fit and provide (for no cost) to Disabled American’s who are unable to do stout exercise any other way. We are planning to provide 25 sets to disabled people in the Central Ohio area who will allow local media to monitor them for 3 weeks, at the indoor swimming pool we use for prototype testing.”

He is also giving another 25 sets to disabled Americans anywhere as long as they help his company High Efficiency Fitness, verify they have helpful watchers and warm swimming pool access, and will also provide precise results, photos and maybe some video footage.

Wise says he wants a wide range of mobility limiting disabilities, ranging from near to fully useless legs, to conditions like advanced diabetes, MS, Muscular Dystrophy, Arthritics, and people currently receiving chemotherapy treatments, to participate. He also said he hopes his company will eventually be able to pay health clubs to get LOBOS on to every disabled person who could not otherwise afford them.

If you are too disabled to walk stand or swim, live outside Central Ohio, and you are interested in participating, email less then 400 words about your condition, helpers and pool access, to bodyoars@aol.com. In the subject line write: LOBOS – Kris, (to avoid spam block) and also include your phone number.

If you are in the Central Ohio area email the same information to the same address, but in the subject line write: LOBOS - Craig.

Note: He says he is not yet ready to supply LOBOS to amputees or paralyzed people as both of those groups will need other “Fitness Engineered” devices that he is not yet equipped to handle.

Wise, 54 who once had two disabled knees, very advanced cancer and morbid obesity, was taught structural engineering by the Columbus home builder he worked for. Today he sports a very lean athletic body with an especially powerful core. He says he averages less then 10 painless minutes a day exercising, and that he also uses a “toned down” version of his Upper Body Oar prototypes.

However he points out the upper body version is far too dangerous to be a consumer product because they fully load over 360 upper core muscle directions that most have never had a way to load even 10% of the resistance his upper body version can deliver, which just instantly injures them.

He said “During development I realized that issue, and purposely designed the LOBOS so they can only fully load the core running (both forward and reverse) motions which load only the naturally biggest and strongest muscles of the human body, doing their most powerful motion. He then referred to these mobility muscles (hamstrings, quads, abs, gluts) as the body’s “health muscles.”

He also said he is not sure how he was nominated or how he even became a finalist for the “Inventor of the Year” award held annually at the Columbus Ohio Convention Center (tomorrow night 2/4/10), as he claims he or his people have never given a demonstration of spoken with them.

“Winning would greatly speed up LOBOS reaching millions of disabled people, but even the nomination is great publicity in a world where independent inventors are mostly ignored. I’m grateful even if it this goes to an organizational sponsored inventor, which all finalists are.

When asked where he got the motivation to spend years in a old garage he answered: “Two things kept me going, I knew this could greatly help severally disabled soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, and I had been having a recurring dream that kept telling me the God only gives a better world to people who made the first one He gave them, better.” He is trying.

To see Body Oar prototype videos or read testimonies from some of the disabled people using them go to bodyoars.com or just Google, Yahoo, Bing or AOL “Disabled Fitness Device” as Body Oars already top their not sponsored lists.

If you are interested in helping or donating to help Wise cover these expenses, please also email your thoughts to him. Use “LOBOS – Craig” in the subject line, and use the same email address above.

The first law of Physical Exercise Efficiency

By mapping the forces of muscle effort and motion resistance it is easy to calculate how effective any exercise is, and how to find ways to make it work better longer and faster.
