Kyrene Medical Center, Internal Medicine, a Primary Care Clinic located in Chandler, AZ is hoping this service will help residents and the community and surrounding areas get the opportunity to check their cholesterol levels and initiate the conversation about the risks of high cholesterol if they have not have the chance to do so.
High blood cholesterol is known to increase the risk of one developing heart disease so reducing the levels if high, will reduce the risk of getting any heart disease.
Residents can come in to get tested in the office from 8am to 10am from Tuesday September 8th to Friday September 11th, 2009. The test will be done by a finger poke and results will be available in 5 minutes. The results will show the Total Cholesterol, High Density Lipoprotein, Triglycerides, Low Density Lipoprotein, Non High Density Lipoprotein and the TC/HDL Ratio. The normal ranges will also be provided with the results.
Residents in the community are advised to talk to their physicians about how the lower it if it is high. If they do not have a Primary Care Physician, they can be seen by one at Kyrene Medical Center, Internal Medicine, if they wish to.
The hope is the create the awareness and generate discussions between patients and their primary care physicians about cholesterol and the effects and risks of heart disease since Kyrene Medical Center, Internal Medicine believes in preventive medicine.
It is also advised to fast for at least 8 hours before getting the test done and residents are advised to call ahead to book a slot to prevent long wait times due to the fasting. Appointments can be made ahead of time by calling 480-598-4145
