Los Angeles, CA, October 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Kamlak Center presents Betty J. Kovacs, Ph.D. in The Surprising Creativity of Grief: A Seminar for the Bereaved & the Curious. The October 17th event will take place 3 – 5 PM at The Bodhi Tree Bookstore Annex, 8585 Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood, CA 90069. Admission is $20. When someone we love dies, we are changed forever. Yet grief is a healing mechanism that can transform our lives in surprising and creative ways. Grief can focus our attention and inspire us to move beyond the present limits of our sight. We can adjust our senses to experience new ways of hearing, seeing and knowing what is real. We can learn that life and death, joy and sorrow, matter and spirit are inseparably intertwined. Grief can guide us into deeper orders of reality where we can live by the wisdom of our own experience rather than by our culture’s limited and outmoded definition of “reality.”

This seminar will focus on methods of working creatively with grief. Dr. Kovacs will also share some of her family’s precognitive dreams, visions, after-death communications and synchronistic events that surrounded the multiple deaths in her family. In addition, she will discuss new scientific insights on the survival of consciousness as well as cultural limitations that we must confront as we embark on our journey into deeper orders of reality. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

Betty J. Kovacs received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, in Comparative Literature and Theory of Symbolic Language. She has studied and taught in Europe and the United States. She is Professor Emerita, Pasadena City College, Pasadena, California, where she taught literature, writing, mythology and symbolic language for over twenty-five years. She has studied the spiritual traditions of prehistory and indigenous cultures and has worked with shamans from the Amazon and the Andes in Peru. She has also served many years on the Board of Directors of the Jung Society of Claremont in California. She is author of The Miracle of Death; and "Journey of the Mothers" in Earthwalking Sky Dancers. In August 2009 she presented “Experiencing the Mystery of Death—and Life” at the 8th Annual Scientific & Medical Network “Beyond the Brain” Conference, University of Kent, Canterbury, England. Recent seminar series include “Deeper Orders of Reality: Creating Our Future” and “The Feminine Dimension of the Divine.” More information about Dr. Betty J. Kovacs is available at www.kamlak.com.

About The Kamlak Center

Changing the way we think about death and life. We confront the belief that there’s nothing but matter, that death is the end of everything. We embrace the new worldview that there’s nothing but Life, birth and death are events in time and space, and grief can open us to this new consciousness
