Folsom Fitness Expert Val Fujii Shares Tips to Help You Stay Healthy This Flu Season
Val Fujii, a Folsom personal trainer and fitness expert, shares some tips that will help your body stay strong and healthy this flu season.
Folsom, CA, November 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- It’s here—flu season. More than likely, you know someone who has been affected by it, quite possibly even yourself. Today, local fitness expert and owner of Superwomen Boot Camp, Val Fujii, wants to share some tips with you that will help your body stay strong and healthy.
“Washing your hands frequently, wearing a mask, keeping doorknobs and other surfaces clean, and being careful about sneezing and coughing, are all helpful in controlling the spread of germs during flu season,” Fujii explains. Fujii went on to say, “There is so much more we can do, though, to protect our bodies against the flu and other germs. We need to be proactive, and give our body what it needs to stay healthy.”
Here are some day-to-day tips you can use to help you stay healthy and fit during the flu season:
1. Build up your immune system. We need to keep our immune system strong to help fight off germs. Some basic guidelines to keep in mind are to have a good balanced diet, drink plenty of water, take a multivitamin and extra Vitamin C, and cut down your alcohol consumption.
2. Exercise. Exercise increases your health and fitness, but when you are feeling ill, don’t overdo it. It is okay to cut back on your normal exercise routine, especially if you have a fever or you are feeling nauseous. It will be counterproductive to put your immune system under stress from exercise, and may, in fact, prolong your illness. When you begin to feel better, gradually ease yourself back into your routine by doing a “lighter” version of your workout. You will get back on track.
3. Get plenty of rest. Listen to your body. If you are feeling rundown or tired, slow down and give your body a break. Rest is one of the best prescriptions you can give your body.
Superwomen Boot Camp is held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6:15 & 7:15 at The Dojo in Folsom, and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:15 at the Ernie Sheldon Sports Complex. Come on out and experience the best workout in Folsom.
