Town of Riverhead, N.Y., Being Sued for $180 Million Due to Alleged Discrimination and Breach of Contract

On October 10, 2006 the $180 Million Dollar Federal Trial of Mark Houraney and North East Holdings, LLC vs. Town of Riverhead, former Supervisor, Robert Kozakiewicz and Town Attorney, Dawn Thomas individually will begin. Set to take place at the Federal Court House in Central Islip, N.Y. the trial is expected to last about two weeks.

Riverhead, NY, October 06, 2006 --(PR.com)-- In 1998 the United States Congress gave the small Town of Riverhead, NY, the Former Navel Weapons Reserve Base for a dollar. The base was used for years by the US Navy and Grumman Corporation, to build and test the F-14 Tomcat, one of the best military Fighter Jets. The site consists of approx. 3000 acres and two major military runways. 

North East Holdings was awarded a 5 year lease on the main Runway of the airport.

On June 7, 2004 the Town of Riverhead was officially served with a $180 million dollar Federal Law suit. The suit brought by Mr. Houraney and his corporation North East Holdings, was against The Town of Riverhead, the former supervisor, Robert Kozakiewicz and Town Attorney, Dawn Thomas individually.

The suit alleges the defendants discriminated based on race and national origin, denied due process of the law, denied the plaintiffs equal protection under the law, breached and interfered with the plaintiffs contract rights and conspired to deprive plaintiffs of protected rights under Federal and State Law.
