Envision Family EyeCare Encourages Families to Book Mid-Year Eye Exams
Lexington, SC, December 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Optometrists at Envision Family EyeCare reminds area parents of the importance of regular eye exams for their children. Statistics show as many as 86% of school-aged children have never had a thorough eye exam. With most students having an extended break over the holidays, it is a convenient time to schedule an initial eye examination – and students with impaired vision could return to school with glasses or contact lenses.
“I’ve had young patients come in who have been diagnosed with learning impairments, when the real challenge was just that they had poor eyesight or poor visual skills, which is easy to correct,” said Dr. William Reynolds, one of the optometrists at Envision. “If your student struggled through the first half of this school year, now is the time to bring them for a complete eye exam. The problem may not be learning-related; it may be solved simply by getting corrective vision wear.”
Most optometrists recommend parents bring their children for a yearly exam from age one onward in order to monitor their eye health. Because of the strong link between healthy vision and academic success, teachers also encourage parents to establish a regular schedule of eye exams for their children.
