Raleigh Day Spa Named Best Medical Spa in America by Skin Inc. Magazine
Raleigh Day Spa Blue Water Spa was named The Best Medical Spa in America in Skin, Inc. magazine’s first annual “Best of the Best” Awards.
Raleigh, NC, November 14, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Skin, Inc. magazine recently announced the winners of its first annual “Best of the Best” Awards, a competition that honors the spa industry’s finest. The winners were judged by an esteemed, neutral panel of industry experts. Because it uses a neutral judging system, Skin, Inc.’s “Best of the Best” Awards is the most unbiased, prestigious honor given in the spa industry today.
The spa industry in the U. S. has steadily grown over the recent past to become the fourth largest industry in the leisure sector. It is estimated that revenues for U.S. medical spas will reach over $400 million this year, and continued steady growth is expected. Medical spas are the fastest-growing segment of the spa industry.
“I am so very honored with the “Best of the Best” Award,” says Kile Law, President and co-owner of Blue Water Spa. “I have been a loyal reader of Skin, Inc. magazine for many years. They were the first spa magazine to interview me for an article. An interview I gave in the early 1990’s was about bringing physicians and aesthetic professionals together. We were at the forefront of what was to become the medical spa movement, we just didn’t know what to call it at the time.”
When asked about the future of medical spas, Law answers, “This is an industry that is growing at an explosive rate, and I see no signs of it slowing down any time soon. We will continually see more innovations in medical aesthetic technology, with a trend towards procedures and services with little to no ‘down time’. I am very enthusiastic about the future of this industry.”
Law also voices concerns, however. “There have been tragedies in med-spas owned and operated by non-physicians. Some facilities have a revolving door for so-called ‘medical directors’ who do not own or operate the business. Other facilities offer medical services without any medical oversight whatsoever.” Law believes that, unfortunately, some medical spas offer treatments that are ineffective, and that some treatments and technologies are even potentially dangerous. She would like to see more stringent legislation as the industry grows in addition to better information for consumers considering med-spa treatments.
What is the secret to the success of Blue Water Spa? “First of all, we are owned and operated by a physician (Law’s husband, Dr. Michael Law, is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has fully integrated Blue Water Spa with his aesthetic surgery practice). I also believe that choosing the right technology is critical to the success of any med-spa business. We only use those technologies that have a proven history of safety and efficacy and which provide consistent results, all of which are essential to creating client loyalty and promoting a successful business.”
Blue Water Spa provides services and expertise in all areas of aesthetics, from laser hair removal and laser skin tightening to facial treatments, peels, microdermabrasion and pampering body therapies. The spa also offers sclerotherapy (leg vein treatment) cellulite treatments and body rejuvenation procedures. Dr. Michael Law provides a full range of aesthetic plastic surgery procedures as well as non surgical aesthetic medical procedures.
Consumers are hungry for both stress relief and aesthetic improvements with no down time. Medical Spas offer both relaxation and immediate visible results to their clients. At Blue Water Spa, a new trend is combing two therapists to provide stress relief and results at an even faster rate for busy professionals and parents.
Kile Law owns Blue Water Spa with her husband Michael Law MD. Blue Water Spa has been recognized as the Best Medical Spa in America by Skin Inc. Magazine and one of the top four medical spas in America by American Spa Magazine. The Triangle Business Journal named Blue Water Spa the best place to work in the Raleigh/Durham area 2006. Kile was named Humanitarian of the Year 2005 by Esthetics International and was awarded a 2004 ABBIES for best editorial feature in a beauty publication.
Kile is an in-demand speaker at medical and aesthetic conferences. She will speak on two panels at the IECSC Medical Spa Conference New York March 2007.
Kile has been involved in the spa industry since 1991 and soon after entered the world of medical aesthetics. Kile’s Newport Beach, CA company, Laser Aesthetics, was instrumental in the concept of bringing physicians and aestheticians together.
Today, Kile works part time at Blue Water Spa, spending most of her time enjoying life as a wife and mother of her 2 young sons.
