KPRC Local 2 is pleased to announce that they are once again your local station for the Jefferson Awards presentations. The Jefferson Award has been the equivalent of the Nobel Peace Prize for public and community service for more than 30 years.  "It has been called by the folks who created it as the Nobel Peace Prize for volunteerism. It exists really just to identify those unsung heroes, like Mr. Locklin, and honor them for their achievements,"  KPRC general manager Larry Blackerby said. "When it comes to public service, it does not matter how you give -- whether it's your time, your experience or just a piece of yourself.  These honorees just get it done!"

KPRC Local 2 news anchor Bill Balleza will be featured in a video presentation with honoree Matt Locklin.  The broadcast features a closer look at the AHCH sponsored West Heights House program, and interviews with guests and staff.  To be aired Nov. 30th, 2006 @ 5 PM; and then repeated again in the morning and afternoon news features over that same weekend.  The video clip will also be broadcast on the TV 2 website after the 11-30-06 public broadcast airs.  Go to: < http://www.click2houston.com/index.html > then select the Jefferson Awards icon on the menu.  Look for video options.
