Innovative diabetes outreach features wellness with a wow and rules of engagement for healthy lifestyles.
New York, NY, June 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Divabetic, a national nonprofit health and wellness organization headlines the June 19, 2010, New York City Department of Parks and Recreation/Hunts Point Recreation Center Health Fair with its entertainment branded outreach for those living with, at risk of and affected by diabetes. The Bad Romance Tour is one of several Divabetic initiatives designed to promote prevention, early action and education through highly engaged, “Glam More, Fear Less” style of messaging. The Hunts Point Recreation Center is located at 765 Manida Street, Bronx NY.
The Bad Romance Tour, mc-ed by "Mr. Divabetic” Szadek is a lively experience of information and interaction, which shines the spotlight on daily struggles with food, fitness, care and self-confidence and features free giveaways courtesy of Crystal Light, Dr. Scholl’s and Diabetes Positive Magazine. Throughout the program, an all-star line-up of Bronx health professionals empowers attendees to make healthy decisions.
“Divabetic’s stage is where the rubber meets the road,” states Mr. Divabetic. Like far too many communities throughout the country, the Bronx has an alarming rate of diabetes and diabetes-related diseases.” According to the Community Health Partnership, a sanofi-aventis coordinated coalition of metropolitan healthcare organizations, in the South Bronx alone, residents are twice as likely to suffer from diabetes as the rest of the country.
Max “Mr. Divabetic” Szadek started Divabetic in 2005 to motivate every diabetic to apply a diva’s bold, sassy personae and stance to dealing with diabetes. “Divabetic’s unique mix of diabetes education, fitness advice, fashion/beauty tips, and fun pop culture references, helps broaden the appeal of the message and maximizes the potential of reaching the 3 million people in the United States who are currently unaware that they may be diabetic,” states Szadek. “Divabetic promotes a ‘living life right’ mindset and uses entertaining and educational references to glamorize good health and wise choices. If we channel the diva in you to prevent and manage the disease properly you will strive to be at your best, which will invariably help lower the risks associated with the disease such as stroke, amputation and blindness.”
