Yoga Yoga North was the second yoga studio to be established in what is now a family of five Yoga Yoga studios in Austin. “Yoga Yoga North was our first expansion out of the comfort of operating a single studio,” explains Rich Goldstein, CEO of Yoga Yoga. “Not only is the studio celebrating its 10th anniversary, I am too. My involvement with Yoga Yoga began with the creation of Yoga Yoga North and the broadening of our reach into the northside of town. The long-term and loyal student base at this studio reminds me of why we ventured into multiple studios. The expansion was about making yoga more accessible for our students who lived north and wanted Yoga Yoga locations that were near their home, work, and other activities.”
Located southeast of the intersection of W. Anderson Lane and Burnet Road, Yoga Yoga North has four yoga rooms that serve thousands of students monthly with mid-day flow classes, a five-evening per week Ashtanga Mysore practice, and a wide variety of other Hatha and Kundalini classes. Two yoga rooms have natural light and Canadian Maple wood floors while the other two yoga rooms feature sustainable cork floors. A large welcome area allows for relaxed browsing of books, clothes, and gifts. Yoga Yoga’s administrative offices are located adjacent to Yoga Yoga North.
After years of teaching yoga in their home, Laura (Guru Karam) and Michael (Mehtab) Benton opened the first Yoga Yoga center in January of 1998 at 1700 South Lamar, now known as Yoga Yoga South. The couple then partnered with Rich (Raghurai) Goldstein to open Yoga Yoga North at 2167 W. Anderson Lane in 2000. The third center, Yoga Yoga Westgate at 4477 South Lamar opened in 2003 and is the organization's largest studio with 6,411 square feet. Yoga Yoga Northwest at 12002 Burnet Road celebrated its grand opening in September of 2005. The fifth location, Yoga Yoga 360 at 2501 South Capital of Texas Highway, opened in November 2008 and features an ayurvedically-inspired wellness spa. With the addition of The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts last year, the founders and owners of Yoga Yoga continue their quest to create accessible and nurturing environments for experiencing and learning practices that promote lifelong health.
