The Breast Cancer Site and What You Can do Asks Viewers to Click for Your Mama

The Breast Cancer Site and What You Can Do teamed up to release the video “Click For Your Mama” as a timely reminder that anyone can help fight breast cancer in less than a minute.

Seattle, WA, October 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Breast Cancer Site and What You Can Do teamed up to release the video “Click For Your Mama” as a timely reminder that anyone can help fight breast cancer in less than a minute.

Entertaining watchers with Scissor Sisters’ “Take Your Mama” (courtesy of Spirit Music Group and Universal Music Group) and a bevy of pink-clad dancers of all ages, the video reminds viewers of the importance of mammograms for early detection and successful treatment as well as the importance of making this test available to all.

Since 2000, a free click on The Breast Cancer Site’s pink button (www.thebreastcancersite.com) has generated a donation from sponsoring advertisers to pay for free mammogram programs for women without adequate insurance coverage for this procedure. The Breast Cancer Site is part of the GreaterGood Network of websites that offers the public an opportunity to support causes they care about at no cost to them.

“We know that the need for funding has never been greater,” said Lisa Halstead, C.O.O. of The Breast Cancer Site. “Many programs around the country have faced a drop in private donations as well as state cutbacks. Our friends at What You Can Do have given everyone a very fun and touching way to share this message year-round. Because breast cancer awareness shouldn’t begin and end in October.”

“The What You Can Do series (whatyoucando365.com) believes that people can help combat some of the world's greatest issues even if they only have one minute of time to give. The Breast Cancer Site’s click for a mammogram feature is the essence of What You Can Do’s credo. We are honored to provide this video to promote this amazing program,” said Jessica Arinella, creator of What You Can Do.

About The Breast Cancer Site
Launched in October 2000, The Breast Cancer Site provides funding for free mammograms for women in need, breast cancer research, and support for women struggling with the disease through such organizations as National Breast Cancer Foundation, Mayo Clinic (research), Making Memories, Patient Access Network Foundation, and others.

During the first six months of 2010, clicks on the pink button funded 1,035 free mammograms for un- and underinsured women (it’s free for site visitors to click, sponsoring advertisers provide the donation). An additional 1,627 mammograms were funded by contributions from The Breast Cancer Site store. This funding goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s programs to provide free mammograms. Since 2007, The Breast Cancer Site has contributed more than $1,000,000 to NBCF.
