Buying Vitamins Can Now Help Fight Childhood Cancer

Learning of MCCP’s current annual fundraising goal of $855,000, DrNewtons.com wanted to lend a hand in meeting the needs of area children with cancer and hematological disorders.
“Like the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, DrNewtons.com knows the value of committing to better health and education,” said Carole Byers — co-founder and co-owner of Dr. Newton’s Naturals. “This donation during the holiday season is our small way of contributing to a healthier community.”
DrNewtons.com is earmarking a minimum of $5,000 to the effort. They hope to exceed this level during their seven-day drive — and plan on presenting their donation to MCCP after the event ends on 12/15. “We are thrilled to have the support of DrNewtons.com on this effort. It is due to the generosity of our community that we are able to continue the important work of trying to find a cure for childhood cancer” said Christy Gunduz, Development Manager for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

The Maine Children's Cancer Program is a comprehensive program that provides treatment for children diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders from all corners of the state of Maine. Each year more than 50 children with cancer are newly diagnosed and treated at MCCP. The average course of intense treatment is typically two years, although it can last as long as four. This means that approximately 200 children are in various stages of active treatment at any given time.
