Toronto, Canada, September 06, 2005 --(PR.com)-- During September and October, 2005, international recording artist and world-renowned flutist Ron Korb will be touring Asia extensively. This tour will take him to Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan, and include his first tour of Mainland China. Ron's itinerary will include performances:
- for an estimated crowd of 10,000 at the Opening Ceremony for the annual Kaoshiung County Festival in Taiwan
- at Expo 2005 in Nagoya, Japan
- at Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou and Century Theatre in Beijing (2 performances at each location)
For portions of this tour, Ron Korb has invited pianist Laila Biali, bassist Brandi Disterheft and violinist Liana Bérubé to join his regular line up that includes Ray Hickey, Jr. on koto, guitar and pipa and percussionist Larry Crowe.
Ron Korb has 9 internationally released CDs and a DVD. He has played on soundtracks for over 50 motion pictures including "Being Julia" starring Annette Bening, "Space Station 3D IMAX", narrated by Tom Cruise, "Return To Kandahar", and the soon to be released Merchant/Ivory Production "The White Countess" filmed in Shanghai and other locations and starring Vanessa Redgrave, Lynn Redgrave and Natasha Richardson.
Ron has also enjoyed success as a songwriter. He composed gold and double platinum songs for many major artists in Hong Kong including Alan Tam, Stephanie Lai, and Yvonne Lau. "Shi Zhong Ni Zui Hao", his song for the late legendary singer Roman Tam, won “Best Original Composition" from Radio and Television Hong Kong (RTHK). Ron and his group will be performing this song as well as some other Chinese repertoire on his upcoming tour of mainland China.
Ron has performed for a number of celebrities and dignitaries including Queen Elizabeth II, Canadian Prime Ministers (Pierre Elliot Trudeau, Kim Campbell), Peter Gabriel, and Olivia Newton-John. He has performed with a number of major artists including Chinese singing sensation Dadawa (Zhu Zhe Qin).
Ron Korb has been called the "flute shaman", "fluto no kotaishi" (prince of flutes), and "flute traveller". His music is an electrifying blend of Eastern and Western influences. Each and every note represents a delicate brush stroke, fusing colour, light, and shadows to create intricate patterns and poetic images. Reflecting his travels to 5 continents and 27 countries including China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Japan, Ron's compositions are a rich tapestry of Chinese, Celtic, and Middle Eastern textures.
Through his music, Ron achieves the intercultural harmony that is so elusive in our world today. Ron Korb's music transcends cultural boundaries and speaks to people of all nations and races. What makes his work truly unique is Ron's ability to reach deep within his spirit, project pure charisma and connect with his audiences. His listeners forget their problems and leave his performances feeling uplifted, rejuvenated and inspired. The beautiful human vocal quality of his flute paints his rich life experience that Ron Korb generously shares with the world.
