Losing a Pound a Day May in Fact Add Decades to Your Life Says New Book from Peter Glickman
Only one method of extending life has been demonstrated in scientific testing repeatedly. Not only does it extend life, but it also reduces the risk for heart disease, diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer's Disease. On January 1, an expanded new edition of a bestselling book goes on sale with a regimen that can be done at home to drop years and extend life following this pattern.
Clearwater, FL, December 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- When you eat can lengthen your life by as much as 40% as shown by new scientific studies
There has only been one method of extending life beyond the normal span of years that has been scientifically proven over and over in eight different species of life, from single-celled yeast to monkeys.[1] (In order to prove it works on man, a study would have to run for at least 80 years. However, there have been “short-term” studies of several years, which demonstrated reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, and diabetes.[2,3])
This is the subject of a new book going on sale January 1 in Barnes & Noble, Borders, Waldenbooks and hundreds of other bookstores: the new, expanded third edition of Lose Weight, Have More Energy & Be Happier in 10 Days. (The second edition sold more than 110,000 copies, was translated into eight languages and was on Amazon’s alternative medicine bestseller list for four years.)
This method is calorie restriction, which consists of reducing the amount of calories consumed by 30% to 40%, while ensuring optimum nutrition. This method was originally shown in 1934 to nearly double the life span of laboratory rats.[4] Even a 30% increase in life for a man would mean 21 more years. This experiment has been repeated with successful results many times since then. The other scientifically proven method of calorie restriction is fasting for short periods and eating normally the rest of the time.[5,6]
Both methods may be viewed as “extreme.” What do we consider normal? Currently one person in three suffers from heart or circulatory disease.[7] Diabetes increased 100% from 1980 to 2007.[8] Obesity skyrocketed 600% from 1961 to 2006.[9] The US spent 36 times as much money as Cuba on health care in 1997 ($3724 vs. $109). Yet a Cuban male could expect to remain healthy longer than an American male.[10] Shouldn’t those figures be considered extreme?
An alternative, nutritional approach to health was tried before and fought in England in 1926. The first chapter of the book recounts that story and puts alternative, nutritional medicine in a new perspective and offers scientific support of it.
The bulk of the book then details how to do the Master Cleanse juice fast with answers to more than 100 frequently asked questions.
The author, Peter Glickman, has been a chelation clinic director, chiropractic clinic director, has sponsored an annual January Master Cleanse on his website (www.therawfoodsite.com) for seven years and coached more than 2,000 people on the Master Cleanse. Carlos Garcia, M.D. wrote the foreword and the book is recommended by Elson Haas, M.D., author of The New Detox Diet.
