Modern Pen Mimics Modern Artists

Southampton, PA, January 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Dexterity Technologies Corporation (Dextek) manufacturer of EzGrip(r) Pens and Grips has unveiled a modern art exhibit for its web visitors. How do you explain and exhibit the qualities of an unknown and different writing instrument product when words seem to fail? Can simple product photographs manipulated to form parodied art masterpieces help explain the differences?
In an effort to portray the differences in its products, Dexterity Technologies Corp (Dextek), manufacturer of the EzGrip(r) ergonomic writing instruments, has incorporated a modern art exhibit into its web site www.dextek.com. The purpose of the unusual art, consisting of highly stylized, contorted, and manipulated photographs of products, is to portray the qualities that make them unique to a world of writing instruments that work-a-like, and basically look-a-like. EzGrip(r) products use only one fingertip for writing, and that changes everything in hand and arm pressure use. When words are not enough to get across the substantial differences, Dextek believes the saying, “A Picture's Meaning Can Express Ten Thousand Words,” will help through visual perception and interpretation.
In words, without actually feeling the result, it may be a difficult concept to grasp.
Normally when writing, three fingers are used to squeeze sideways and push down simultaneously. With EzGrip(r) products, only a single fingertip is needed for writing pressure. Other fingers hold loosely. The result is less physical and mechanical resources are needed. Many of the muscles, tendons, or nerves normally used in writing are not used or needed. Because of this, persons with any form of hand or arm difficulty such as arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome, cramping, tendonitis, or even broken bones can use the EzGrip(r) products without difficulty. It acts as a preventative as well. Newer digital technologies are speeding up the rate of finger and hand injuries. The website art stresses concepts over explanations.
In an unorthodox use of product photographs, the illustrations were created in the basic style and theme of famous modern artists such as Salvador Dali, Marcel Duchamp, Joan Miró, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol. The web art consists of only EzGrip(r) Pens and Grip photos and other elements associated with writing such as the ever-present lined yellow tablet. No freehand art is used. An example: to recreate Joan Miro’s “Le Coque” – the Rooster, only Pencil Grip photos were use to form the complete rooster – body, wings, eyes, claws, and cockscomb In another example a (nude) EzGrip(r) Pen appears descending a tablet-staircase. This is in the style of Marcel Duchamp. There are other representations of droopy, melting, and twisted or square pens and grips, and a masked clarinet-playing pen.
Titles of each illustration refer to a quality being portrayed and are in keeping with the artists own title naming preferences. There is no intention to copy the artists’ actual work, but to build on it – with humor.
