San Francisco, CA, September 08, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Sharing and celebrating the giving spirit of the season, the Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco™ announces its third annual holiday benefit, Home for the Holidays, on Thursday, December 8. Taking place from 6 – 9pm at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Forum, “Home for the Holidays” will recognize the organizations and community members who help support the San Francisco House, as well as shed light on the families who have benefited from the sanctuary that it provides.
“Home for the Holidays”, hosted by KGO-TV broadcaster Cheryl Jennings, will include a silent auction, live entertainment, hosted hors d’oeuvres and beverages, along with special award presentations and information on the House. Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco will also provide special recognition and thanks through its three coveted honors: the Scott B. Price Philanthropist Award; the Dr. Robert Piecuch Family Care Award; and, the Ivan Gold and Trudi Nagel Morrison Volunteer Leadership Award.
The Scott B. Price Philanthropist award was created to recognize organizations and individuals who have demonstrated long-term commitment and support to the Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco. Honoring the two founders of the San Francisco House, Ivan Gold and Trudi Nagel Morrison, an award was created in their name and acknowledges those who have helped create the foundation for the house, through fundraising and supporting the cause. And the Dr. Robert Piecuch Family Care Award was created after the President of the board of directors for Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco, and honors those who help ensure that families are taken care of while their children are receiving medical attention.
Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco opened its doors on Valentine’s Day in 1989, through the warm hearted support of many caring community leaders and members of the medical community. The idea for the San Francisco house came from the parents of a baby named Simon Nagel Gold, who died from a cardiac condition at Mt. Zion Medical Center after struggling for four weeks in the intensive care nursery.
Tickets for Home for the Holidays are $100, with all proceeds from the evening supporting the Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco. Purchase your tickets and find more details by visiting www.ronaldhouse-sf.org or calling 415-673-0891.
